I'm all about the Red + Blue combo lately

I have to start off with a confession;  my mum HATED this look. See the top is actually this dress I last wore 2 years ago and when I walked in (it was my muffin's grad party and I was seated at the high table) she immediately WhatsApped something along the lines of what a bore I was for cutting the dress!

PAPLERAYN & CANDLE-IT LAUNCH

This has been a long time in coming but it makes up for it by being picture heavy. Boy is it picture heavy! I can't even promise to caption them all! Lets start by setting the mood;

Me gallivanting all over the place in between stints of working the Candle-It station. My outfit is a crop top and skirt combo from Warehouse (originally a dress but I felt it veered a little twee for the occasion so I took scissors to it and got a good tailor and voila!)

This picture was when I realized I need to switch to a matte foundation. I'm all shine instead of glow.

I'm pretty certain the long face here was due to noticing how shiny I was in the pic above.

Back to the candle station. I had to be here else people were going to take a bite outta them thinking they were real cupcakes. *True story*

THE DECOR

 

The event was held at Bodaboda Garden City Rooftop and was a Red Carpet affair.

Candle-It supplied the decor and as night fell, candles in mason jars outline the mini-runway.

CONSIDER THIS A BOOKMARK

HAPPY 2014! It's almost a year since I started this particular blog and what a year it was! Short of getting engaged/pregnant/Masters degree I think I experienced everything a twentysomething does!

I have big hopes for this year (don't I always?) and since most of my ventures are collaborative efforts, chances are high that my natural tendency to procrastinate won't get in the way!

This view you guys!!! This view! Its something else I tell you. I took so many more breathtaking pics at the Source of the Nile, Jinja but the promo rules are you have to be in the pic so this is what we are working with.

A collage of the second half of my holiday (1st half back home in Entebbe was basically an eat+read+watch movie+sleep orgy): I moved into new digs, went gift shopping (read spent ages trying on outfits and taking selfies) with Terri, ate a lot - A WHOLE LOT - this is in fact going to be a post of its own, toured Jinja - this place has more hotels/Guesthouses than Entebbe!!!

Picture on right is four days before the left and I think I gained about 3 pounds in the interval! No worries though, living with my vegan bro should make shedding the pounds a piece of cake!

I'm still hangover from the best christmas break ever so I'm not really back in blogging mode hence the bookmark but figured I out to say something about the new year before that got stale. Toodles!

MINIMALISM.

Greetings from the middle of nowhere.

Okay, I exaggerate, but not by much. My new housemate once in possession of our collective monies decided to panic and ignore all advise from professional architect and avid pinterestor yours truly, and signed us down to a 4 month sentence of hard commute with no chance of parole in a middle aged neighbourhood! 

There are no gyms, no chain stores (I dunno how I'm going to cope without my saturday Tusky's vanilla muffin), poor network reception, the last taxi stage is like a 10 mins bike ride away... along a feeder road (!), and the straw that broke this camel's back; there no carpentry shops!

How am I supposed to supervise the making of my masterpieces that will become heirlooms once I leave this mortal coil if the carpentry place is not within walking distance???

On raising my concerns with housemate dearest he texted back, "Chill that DIY crap of yours, we should get leather sofas. I think there's a place along Jinja road with a set for 3.6m ..."

That text alone (3.6m!!! Leather???) sent me online to soothe my frazzled nerves. 

I have to convince him to see the error of his ways. I have to. I mean, have you seen those sofas? They always make me think of the strain on shirt buttons when someone has over eaten. These on the other hand ...

In a perfect world, this is how my new home would look like. Neutrals - Black+White, natural wood, chrome.

And upon getting more money I'd upgrade to this. Clean lines, earth tones, clutter free.

Curves can complement lines without being clunky. I can deal with this.

-Ditto-

And if I must go the plush  furniture route, I'd want the pitstop to be this white quilted lounge.

Clean lines, natural fabrics and natural palettes are so underrated! The first is my favourite. It looks good, seems to have great ergonomics vis-à-vis back support, AND appears easy to clean!

Also I must say it matches my stackable beds (which will be debuted here soon as my room is blog worthy) and, I can't emphasise this enough, what you see is what you get! None of that nonsensical saw dust stuffing and rotten wood frames disguised by great upholstery you get with most Ugandan Carpentry shops. I think this is the reason I'm averse to arm rests. So I just have to convince my dear new housemate that I know best.
