I’m a girly girl. I like my
frills and ruffles, ribbons and bows, and flounces galore. What can I say, I cut my reading teeth on medieval fairy tales - all corsets and full skirts and glass slippers. True I favour
a more streamlined silhouette now than 8 year old me did, a midi jersey cowl neck shift over a
slinky cleavage bearing floor length gown (or a Toddlers&Tiaras-esque travesty) any day, I still lean towards sweet feminine styles ergo 90% of my closet
comprises of dresses and skirts.

BOSSY PANTS
This blogger life is not for having qualms about where to shoot or
not to shoot. I’m fast realizing that I cannot walk away from a great location
or an interesting prop without carrying out an impromptu photoshoot!

7 - ELEVEN
~~~
… Oooh wee be-be freaky deaky
Think me see she pink bikini
Rock that groovy dye dashiki
Nefertiti, edges kinky
Sweatin’ out my blow out,
Sweatin’ out my press …
~~~
Today’s
post was inspired by one of my favourite songs to work out to, Queen Bey’s 7
Eleven. It actually started out as a coincidence that I took out my braids just
before we filmed a clip for our YouTube channel The Talk256 set at the pool and
that’s how I found myself in a pink bikini with my edges kinky.

THE SWITCH UP
Valentine's is just a day away (!) and what's on every romantic's mind is where to go, what to wear, what gift to get that special person. True, there are those who claim they don't see what all the fuss about this one day is about but if you are like me, each and every excuse to give and receive gifts, indulge in a day of pampering, or even just an extra long cuddle session is pounced upon with both hands.

SHOOTING THE BREEZE
You know those days when you throw on a random outfit (aka laundry day) and you're just hoping to get through the day without any important meetings but then you step out and the weather is just right, sun is bright but not hot, sky is as blue as it gets, and strangers smile at you, and birds chirp a happy song just for you? Yeah, those days.

ALL BLACK & BLUE
I have to start off with a confession; my mum HATED this look. See the top is actually this dress I last wore 2 years ago and when I walked in (it was my muffin's grad party and I was seated at the high table) she immediately WhatsApped something along the lines of what a bore I was for cutting the dress!

GAME OF THRONES
![]() |
| Can you believe that vicious dragon is merely a tennis ball (so actors have a physical reference) and a green screen? (So the visual effects guys can work their magic?) Wow. Just wow! |
You guys, let me preface this by confessing my trials and tribulations vis a vis this blog! Regular updates will keeping down an 8 to 5 are proving harder than I ever imagined! I kid you not, I have folders upon folders upon folders (imagine some inception shit here but in computer form) on my mac of lots of things I want to blog about but do i ever get the time???
I thought getting my new cammy would make this easier but colour me disillusioned! Xuma and Eliza have nothing on me!
Anyway, moving on to Game of Thrones which is my latest great obsession. I haven't felt this fully immersed in a fantasy world since Harry Potter! Eragon came close before the movie killed it for me. But GoT? I devour any and all titbits of Westeros and co. that cross my path!
After all 3 seasons I figured why wait for the next when there are the books to catch up on? A wiser decision I've never made cuz the books are like 10 times funner that the show! I could go on and on and on but this post is about the great work the show guys are doing with George R.R. Martin's creation.

| The biggest influences for the flight of the dragons were eagles and bats. The former for their soaring motions and the latter for the take-off and hovering. |
I can't be the only one that thinks actors that work with green screens do way more work than those that do say topical comedy that relies on fat suits and fart jokes *ahem Tyler Perry, ahem*. So Daenearys's dragons are a particular point of interest to me. When I came across these details of how they bring them to life with CGI and tennis balls and green screens I just had to share! No folder for these guys!
westeros.org did an interview with the VFX producer Lucy Ainsworth-Taylor which you can read in its entirety here and/or watch wired magazine's behind the scenes video of the wind tunnel simulation and how it all comes together here (I failed to embed it in the post.) If you're anything like me you're obviously going to do both and you'll be all the happier for it!

TEEN CHOICE AWARDS 2013
Obvi all the focus was on Glee this time round cause Cory is doing his angel duties and all. Lea was pretty in pink, Amber and Jenna looked great too, Naya...I dunno know, maybe she was still in mourning but wanted to seem age-appropriately dressed in a bralet? I can't even begin to deal.
Also, you have to give Rebel Wilson props for committing to theme and everything.
My best dressed of course was Nina Dobrev who can do no wrong where I'm concerned.
Clearly this blogging frequently thing is harder than I thought so let's just go over to this fab photography blog right here.

SET DESIGN
First of all, yay! Sometime during the last month my blog finally cracked 1500 page views and I caught it! Considering its just 4 months old and I've never taken to social media there's still hope to garner views in the hundred thousands and make this my full time job. Speaking of job switches...

| These are photos of three views of office sets and one of a living room set of a critically acclaimed legal drama |
My dad and I were talking about my career
prospects the other day because at the moment I’m so dissatisfied with
architecture in Uganda (mostly because clients just don’t appreciate the
profession enough? And those that do are the big scale companies that want to
put up a school or hospital or hotel. These pay good and give you leeway with
the design and all but they are not about to hire a graduate architect with
less than 5 years experience! Now, I know I know; I have to do the time and
wait my time. I was never good at waiting though and I think my attention has
already started to flit because…) I told him what I think would put the beat
back into my heart would be designing interiors of like private jets and tour
buses and luxury yachts! That sure tickled his bones! He’s like “you’re
complaining about hoteliers not hiring you and you think a yacht owning
billionaire would?”

| The strength and elegance of the female senior partner is brought out by a classic mix of reds and neutrals in her office. I specially love the red vases as centre pieces! |
![]() |
| Another view of the same office. Classy, right? Again, a clever mix of reds and neutral tones! |
![]() |
| The guys get darker tones... stained wood furniture, black leather seats...I love the subtle implication of power. Suitable for all the mind games this guy does! |
I stand by my “Why not?” because in the
latter case it’s really about taste not so much about can you put up the bid
security of 50m and do you have a renowned team of consultants you work with
and how impressive is your portfolio of previous projects, yadda yadda yadda.
Anyway, at some point in this conversation
the talk shifted to how sparsely furnished and uninspiring the BBA house is
this year! And that’s when I had my eureka moment! Set Design! *ding ding
ding!*
I think this would be challenging,
stimulating and rewarding in equal measures! Obviously, my sights are set on
Hollywood but in the meantime (next 2, 3 years?) I can settle for these Ugandan
TV shows cropping up everywhere. Lord knows they missed the mark - even if the
mark was humorous irony - having an HB Toxic poster hanging up in Patra’s
hostel room!
