Resurrecting my random web trawling series ‘cause the internet is
such a gold mine of interesting dinner conversation topics and I just can’t sit
on it so get your trigger fingers ready because you can bet the sites I’m
linking to are gonna have links you simply must click too! As always, the
vicious cycle continues.
Let’s start with this Singapore Core Math quiz question that went viral last week. I won’t lie, I threw my best grey matter at it and 30 minutes
later after concluding August 17th must be the answer (my subconscious
must have zeroed in on this date ‘cause its my favorite month and contained my
favorite number because I seriously can’t remember my logic here) I was ready
to pat myself on the back and looked at the answer. *Cue face palm* One
of my friends who allegedly arrived at the answer in under a minute even said
he was disappointed in me, apparently I used to be much smarter. You guys, that was a low blow because my
above average intellect is my pride and joy. Anyhow, I've decided to cut down numbers at my future wedding reception, the date and venue will be worded thusly on the invites! *snigger snigger*
But if you didn’t get it either, fret not. Having an above averageIQ isn’t all it’s cracked out to be if this BBC article is to be believed. In
fact it appears to be more of a curse than a boon. Everything has a downside
huh?
Moving on to lighter topics, these 3 guys set out to find their doppelgangers from allover the universe and the Internet being the internet,
submissions started streaming in almost immediately! As someone who has been
told a kajillion times that I look like someone else, I find tales of twin
strangers endlessly fascinating. I mean how is it possible? If DNA doesn’t
determine our looks, what does? Is it reincarnation? Does God forget he
designed someone already and uses the same template for someone else? Kubanga
that pic of Betty Nambooze and Mesach Semakula at the Kabaka’s Run was a jaw dropper. I think these guys’ parents have some
explaining to do!

While still on the topic of Royalty, my favorite fashion bloggers
released their debut adult novel loosely based on the Kate Middleton – Prince
William romance, except Kate is American and guess what, you can read the first seven chapters here. I haven’t read them yet because I can’t stand the suspense
of not knowing what happens next so I’m planning to wait and devour it in one
sitting when Amazon finally ships my order over.
Speaking of books, you will want to read about John Green's editor, Julie Strauss-Gabel, who gives Tough love like it's never been given before. Twenty pages plus of notes about the first draft of The Fault in our Stars in which she basically told Green the novel read "like bad John Green fanfic". Lucky for us he heed her advice and the awesomeness that is Augustus Waters saw the light of day.
Also if you haven't watched Janelle Monae’s Yoga video I don't know what you're still doing here reading this! That video is phenom and I can't stop fantasizing about making a fan video because the way she put that twitter troll in place gave me life!
What interesting stories did you guys come across? Kindly leave a link and help reawaken my grey matter. Peace and Love.
